A female reader, person12345 United States +, writes (13 February 2011):

person12345 agony auntYou don't need to pull out wearing a condom, I'd imagine in the heat of the moment that could actually pull the condom off occasionally making it ineffective. With proper use condoms are actually very effective, but the pill, depo shot, implant, or an IUD are more effective. If you're incredibly worried, you should switch to one of those methods. Some people double up using a condom and a hormonal method, but it's not totally necessary.

While using condoms it's safe to finish inside you. Are you willing to take plan B if it breaks? The way to be safe is to make sure you roll the condom down the proper direction. Don't allow the "clean" side to touch his penis, as his precum can contain sperm if he has ejaculated recently. Once it's rolled down as far as it will go, make sure there is a space at the top for the semen to go. Before he ejaculates, have him stop what he's doing and reach down to check that the condom is still on properly. Then after he finishes, make sure he grabs the base of the condom as he pulls out to make sure it doesn't slide off. As well, once he has ejaculated, don't continue to have sex as this can push semen out the bottom. You can double check there were no leaks by squeezing the top to see if any comes out.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (13 February 2011):

Mkay ill start off with abstinance is the only 100% way blah blah blah. Me and my girlfriend use a spermicide condom, and a spermicide jell that she puts in. We also pull out before I cum, not as I'm cumming, but like 30 seconds before. I have great self controll so I can do this. it sucks not being able to cum wile doing it because its the best part for the guy, and this why guys might not have the controll to actualy pull out. Now since he is pulling out u could give him head till he goes after he pulls out, or a handjob. Or he could just jack off till he goes. This will give him incentive to pull out well before he goes. I think its wise to use spermicidal condoms still to kill any precum, the condom could break and pre cum could get in. Me and my girlfriend have been doing this a wile and we're both 17, and after were done we are NEVER worried about anything.

Best of luck!

A female reader, aunt honesty Ireland +, writes (12 February 2011):

aunt honesty agony auntCondoms are usually very safe but as like all contraception they can fail so therefore yes him pulling out before ejaculating is safer as such but as long as he is still wearing the condom. If you are really worried about getting pregnant then maybe it would be a good idea to go to your doctor and talk about other contraceptive options. Hope this helps sweetie.
