Yes it is true. There is no such thing as safe sex unless you use protection. Women can get pregnant at any time. It's always a risk when you have unprotected sex.

Ooops ! I made a mistake using the word "ovulation" rather than "menstruation" in my response below. Menstruation is the release of an unfertilized ovum (egg) from the uterus. Sorry for any confusion.

Pregnancy, STD'S and AIDS are always a risk.
Certain days of your menstrual cycle are just more risky to get pregnant then others; specially those just before, during and just after ovulation.
Herewith a link that will explain ovulation and the monthly cycle to you; it is very interesting and very informative. I trust you will benefit from reading it.

Personally I doubt that you are pregnant if you only had sex 3 days before your period was suppose to start but there is ALWAYS A RISK.
If you think there is a chance that you may be pregnant then get a test just to be sure.Relax, you might just be late and stress will make it worse. If it is negative do another two weeks to a month later or consult your doctor or family planning clinic.
Best wishes and keep SMILING.

Even WITH protection. No device or procedure made by humans is infallible. Life can be a remarkably sneaky bastard sometimes and it will do ANYTHING to exist. But provided you use protection (and at your age you shouldn't be doing anything without protection in some form or other at all, ever) you will minimise the risks or disease and/or pregnancy to negligible.Flynn 24

The thought that unprotected sexual intercourse between a fertile heterosexual couple just before or after the female's menstrual period presents a high probability for pregnancy is the OPPOSITE of truth. The truth is that the several days (about 3 to 5) prior to, during and following ovulation (when the period occurs) are the LEAST likely to result in pregnancy. Anything is possible, however - including alien infestation ! LOL Is there any semblance of sex education offered in your school these days?

Yes, you can get pregnant. Take a pregnancy test, if it comes out negetive, wait untill your next expected period to take another. Good luck.

Perhaps a readily available at home pregnancy test is in order here?
