A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I just wanted some advice on whether getting engaged at this age is too soon? As me and my BF have only been together 7 months but he is thinking of proposing to me! I want to say yes as I love him and want to be with him for the rest of my life. We are not going to get married for over 5 years because we both at uni! I'm 17 and need some help. Is this too soon?

Thanks

BeckiiW agony auntI think 16 or over is ok, me and my boyfriend are getting engaged over christmas this year.. I can't wait, he's joining the infantry army and we decided to get engaged because of our love for each other, I'm 17 he's 20, we're like 2 peas in a pod and also soul mates, made for each other, we've been together for 16 months and it's your choice whether you want to get engaged, if you love him you would no not to ask, I'm seeing your not sure, just do what you think is right.

good luck and Conratulations if you say yes :)

I wouldn't say so. I'm 14 and have been with my boyfriend Jay (17) for 4 years and we've been engaged since last Christmas day. Obviously we have to wait till I'm 16 but you're 17 so it is just how you feel.

I feel that the very fact you are questionning it shows that you are not ready. You have not been together long at all, and surely the fact that he is 'thinking' of proposing comes across as a little immature...what about the grand suprise proposal?! I would say that you should ask him now to propose to you in 5 years! If you are still together, you can enjoy the romance of the proposal. You have all the time in the world
