If it came on suddenly, seeing a doctor is probably best, especially if the sudden clotting is accompanied by increase in menstrual pain, fatigue, or new symptoms occur.

reader, anonymous, writes (24 March 2008): I know it is often hard to get to see the doctor but do be patient and make the appointment and stick to it. You need to get checked out. My daughter has endometriosis, very painful and with heavy bleeding that lasts for 10 days at a time. Please book up and go and see the doctor.
