I have caught my dad a couple of times masturbating in his bedroom...believe me that was traumatising enough but what i want to know is, is it normal for a dad to do that? Its normally every day but it just creeps me out...because well he's my DAD. I thought it was just desperate teenage boys who do it that regularly but obviously not...i really need some reassurance that whether or not this is normal for a middle aged man Reply to this Question Share |

Usually this happens when they want sex but don't have a woman to have sex with, or even if they are in a relationship and can't wait until the next time they are with their woman. Is your father married or single? Why did this traumatize you? And how did you happen to catch him masturbating in his bedroom? Was the door open or was it closed and you just walked in? You should always knock before entering a person's room.

Just because a guy gets older, surely it doesnt mean his sexual needs disappear? If he needs it, he needs it, so he masturbates. But MY question is, does your grandad? Lol :]

Geez, give your parents some privacy please! How would you feel if your dad just walked into your room?Is your father single? What did you expect, that sex-drive just goes away when men become dads? What is puzzling me is that you caught him a COUPLE of times? Surely after the first time you would have learned NOT just to go into his bedroom without knocking?Or is something more going on here? Either you are a slow learner, you for some reason WANT to catch him or he is exposing himself. Fathers masturbating is pretty normal, their daughters catching them repeatadly isn't. What is going on here?

Yes it is normal. But you should never see this. He needs to lock his door and you need to knock if going to his room.

I am certainly beyond 'middle age' and yet I still masturbate (sometimes rather frequently).
Primarily this because I still have a strong sexual urge; however my wife has lost interest.
It is true I use pornogaphy to stimulate myself but I see no real harm in that.
The way I see it, if I'm hungry I eat - so what's wrong with satisfying myself if I get a sexual urge ?

hey well yeah of course this is normal! men of all ages masturbate, and sometimes it can also be to relieve tension and stress as well as for sexual pleasure. of course it is going to be traumatic for you to see, but it is normal. next time, maybe try knocking or something before you walk in and see him? he needs his privacy too and you have to respect that. if it is traumatic for you then it is going to be just as traumatic for his son to see him like that also. so just know your boundaries and respect your dad's privacy.

People do it at all ages if your sexually fustrated then you should do something a bout it whether its with a partner or someone else its about relieveing stress as well as being pleasured. i know it freaks you out but its all part of being a human maybe you should knock from now on or walk into rooms with your eyes closed, because its just as traumatising for him to seee you.
