A female Ireland age 30-35, anonymous writes:

here goes by the way im 19, my boyfriend and I have been dating for 6 months now but lately ive found myself being increasingly irritated by him,and felt like i wanted to break up with him. However anytime ive considered actually breaking up with him i get so sad and tearful,Is this a sign that we shouldnt break up or is this just fear of the unknown,I know he is completely in love with me and althought ive said i love him too and am willing to lose my virginity to him im not sure if its true love or just the idealism of having a boyfriend im in love with.Any help or advice would be really appreciated.Thank you

A female reader, factorygirl United Kingdom +, writes (14 January 2011):

I dealt with the same exact thing. Is there a lot of reasons you may not like him? If he's showing some red flags and you are having doubts, maybe it is for the best if you do take a step back...but if he is being a good boyfriend and you can trust him, I think it might be good to give your relationship more time so you won't regret anything. I don't think you should rush into sex, especially if you have any doubts. Just take it slow, take it day by day and I think the answer will come to you.
