No one knows the truth about this, there are only theories, and no one can know what your experience is like. You are the only one who has your experience, so you will have to decide with theory most closely matches your experience. However, most dreams and feelings that occur during sleep are thought to be projections from our unconscious. An out of body experience would have a different quality to it than a dream has, it would be experienced more like normal consiousness.

I get that feeling too sometimes. I don't think it's an out of body feeling. Maybe because sometimes I have the dream that I'm falling with my back facing the ground and I literally can't feel anything under or around me. It lasts for a couple of mins or whenever it gets too weird I wake myself up somehow. Hopefully someone else can give us an answer.
