Do i just have to get used to his size? is there something wrong with me? should i get myself checked out? thank you!

He needs to learn how to read you if he really loves you; making you physically cry from pain is selfish on his part

Try girl on top positions. Or if he's on top close ur thighs a bit so he wont be able to go so deep.
