Is he playing me? Or afraid of getting involved?

Question - (6 May 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 7 May 2010)
A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Ok, I need advice on this situation. A guy I work with asked me out, we hung out a few times - got coffee/shopped etc talked a lot, it led to hand holding after about four dates. We now meet for food and drinks, at least twice a week, this has happened for at least three weeks. He took me out to celebrate my birthday, bought me a present, pays for things etc He meets me at the train station holds my hand, has progressed to light kissing. He seems to enjoy my company, never pushy or wanting to come home with me. We spend at least ten hours in each others company each time we go out. He confuses me though, sometimes says I'm 'perfect' , 'amazing', hints he's met his future wife. Looks at me so intently, always says he has to control himself. Yet he said 'It's not like we're dating or anything', 'if u meet somebody with whom u feel a connection U should just go for it'. He hints at sexual situations occaisonally. I know he had a bad break up once, said he was devastated but otherwise he's a closed book to me. Do u think he's playing me or genuine? It's been seven months since we met and the attraction has been going on for about ten weeks.

Lexie88 agony auntI don't know if he's deliberately out to play you but I can tell you that he's not genuine. If he was, he'd want to make it known that you're dating and that you're off the market. Instead he's getting company and physical closeness without committing to anything. Like ask oldersister said, if he's not dating you then he shouldn't get any of the kissing or anyting else from you...that should be reserved for a boyfriend.

If I was you I'd stop the kissing and the hanging out if he's not interested in dating you. Your time is precious and you don't need to be spending it on someone who uses that time and confuses you but doesn't want to committ to you. There are plenty of men out there who want to date you and make you their girlfriend. If he doesn't want a 100% don't even give him 1%.
