Is he just being a friend or does he want more than friendship?

Question - (7 October 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 7 October 2010)
A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Hello,

I have a male friend that I fell in love with, but my problem is that I cannot read him. I told him about my feelings and the only reply I got was "how shocked he was". He isn't direct when it comes to his feelings, so I find myself having to decipher what he says.

He'll say things like "I sure wish I could see you again" (we are a few states apart) and showers me with compliments. He also has my picture (an 8x10 mind you) framed in his house, with another picture of mine as his screensaver on his PC. Yet, 1 minute he's as sweet as can be, then he won't say a word for days, sometimes 1-2 weeks. It's as if he makes himself unavailable. Won't answer text msgs, calls go to voicemail, etc. I've grown frustrated with this push/pull thing, so I haven't said a word to him for about 2 weeks. I was awakened out of my sleep yesterday by the doorbell. It was flowers from him.

How am I supposed to take this?

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (7 October 2010):

There is only one way to find out. You've told him how YOU feel, not you need to ask plainly and simply how HE feels. He seems to like you, but then he seems not to. Hard to tell what he's thinking. But you just need to say "How do you feel about me, and would you like to takes things further"

If that doesn't get his ass moving on this, nothing will. Ask him.
