some infections in the uterus and cervix can cause long periods, also the pill could very well have messed with your hormones. I had this problem a few years ago I was rarely off my period maybe a few days in a month, I had all the tests and the only thing they found was a cyst. reader, anonymous, writes (16 August 2007): Yes it's probably due to you starting the pill and it has possibly caused a hormone imbalance. This can cause long periods, it can also cause bleeding in between periods too. I would pay your GP or family planning clinic and discuss this problem. They will probably prescribe another pill which is more suitable/compatible for you.

erm im not quite sure the signs of chlamydia but some people do have irregular long periods [myself included] maybe this is just one time when you have a longer one????
if in doubt do try the nhs website they might be able to give u the symptoms....
