When you see him around in school or something, ask him if you guys can hang out. If you can't hang out then just get alone with him long enough and pour your heart out. Let him know that you really like him and just tell him exactly how you feel. And the age difference, doesn't matter. My boyfriend's 15 and I'm 13.

 This happened to me almost exactly the same when I was 15. Just tell him. At least you will get your answer or to lessen the burden ask a friend of his if he is interested, make sure its somebody you could generally trust.
If word gets out just enjoy the rumors of it after all they will only be rumors right? and through rumors you can get a fair idea if he likes you or not without making it too obvious and embarrasing.
