Implantation bleeding or my period...which is it?

Hey all...My period is due in about a week and I was just wondering if what I'm experiencing could be implantation bleeding. I just noticed it yesterday and it was a pretty big spot on my underwear. Since then I have probably filled one tampon and had another large stain on my underwear. I am on the pill and I have never missed a day or never taken it late. I skipped my period by skipping sugar pills last month, so could I just be irregular? I am also on a trip to a different climate with two other ladies that have their period. Could this just be an early period/or breakthrough bleeding/reg. pill spotting or does it sound like implantation bleeding?
