I also noticed that my periods have not been regular in the last 6 months. And very scanty when they happened. I met a doctor and she suggested that I get a scan done as she suspected PCOD. The scan reports were positive and showed that both my ovaries suggested symptoms of PCOD. The doctor prescribed Diane 35 to be used for the next 6 months. This, she said would not only regularize my periods but also help in treating my acne problem. I have started using the pill now. My concern is, will I put on weight? I am not as worried about anything else as I am worried about weight gain. Due to a recent knee injury (serious), I have been advised not to exercise for a period of 6 months. I lead a very sedentary lifestyle and this is my other main worry. I do not diet and consume about 2000 calories a day. Could you suggest if I am likely to pile on weight due to these pills? I do not plan to take them for any more than the minimum period prescribed. I also take mild laxatives everyday (Dulcolax).I am 26 years old. I weigh about 61 kilograms.

Weight gain is one of the side effects associated with the drug dianette 35, but if you are carful what you eat during the short period you need to take it for any small amount that you gain should be easy enough to lose after you have finished with it.
Take care.xx.

It depends on the pill that you use whether or not you pile on weight. I was on Diane and I did put on weight, so I changed it to Ovranet (I think that was what its called) and I actually lost weight.
You just need to get a pill that is compatable to you. Try Diane, if you start putting on weight, then go to the doctor and try something different. You just need to watch and see if you start putting on weight first though, you will know soon enough!

Hi there,
The pill does not make a person gain weight, but it does increase appetite. Someone else actually asked about this very thing. I will repost my answer to her below:
-----------------
A *huge* misconception about the pill is that it will make you gain weight. This is not true and is not backed by any evidence. On the other hand, there have been studies done proving that the pill does not put on weight. Here is a short article: http://www.wnbc.com/health/6433552/detail.html
And here is a detailed abstract from the study (you need to register to get all of the details): http://www.mrw.interscience.wiley.com/cochrane/clsysrev/articles/CD003987/frame.html
BUT what they have found is that the pill makes women crave food more than usual. THIS is what you have to watch out for. As long as you keep eating healthy, you'll stay the same weight. I would definitly talk to your doctor about getting on the pill if this is all you were worried about.
-----------------
Hope this helps! Take care.

I don't think the pill makes you put weight on but if you can't exercise be careful what you eat. I don't mean cut out everything like chocolate. Just remember to eat a varied diet until you can start exercising again.
