Question - (3 June 2008) 1 Answers - (Newest, 3 June 2008)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I've been with my boyfriend for just over a year and I know I am completely in love with him!! The thing is I kept getting little scares where I thought I was pregnant and then it turned out my period was just late, this happened for a couple of months but there back to normal again.

Now I really want to have a baby and it tore the both of us apart when I found out I wasn't those times. I fell pregnant with my last boyfriend at 15 and didn't think I could cope so I had a terminataion and I'm really worried incase that was my only chance of having a child.

In between my last boyfriend and my current one I had sex with another guy a couple of times who I didn't hardly know, I had met him on a night out and went to his house a couple of nights to have sex.

I know I didn't have any Sexually transmitted diseases before this guy as I had been checked out and now I'm really worried I might have chlamidia and may have passed it on to my boyfriend.

I went to get checked out yesterday and they told me it will be 3 weeks before my test results come back!!

I know chlamidia can make you infertile after long enough but how long? If I've got anything like that it would be from about a year ago so would that make me infertile?

Also if I've not got it what could be wrong as we have a very good sexual relationship and I dont take the pill or use condoms(we did until about 5 months ago) My boyfriend smokes cannibas and I know he wont stop but could that be one of the problems?

A female reader, lexilou United Kingdom +, writes (3 June 2008):

lexilou agony auntIt is heartbreaking when you cant fall but as doctors in the uk will only look at you after at least a year of trying then I really dont think you should worry just yet. (its 6 months if youre over 35)

All women are different and some fall easily and others take longer.

I fell the first month with my first two yet my 3rd took 6/7 months and we tried for a 4th for nearly 20 months before giving up because of my age, so I do understand how you feel.

Wait for your tests and if everything is clear you just need to relax and stop worrying. There are many web sites that can recommend healthy diets and lifestyles etc. If you havent fallen after a year talk to your doctor. Good luck x
