i believe everything is controled by our mind. try to stay calm and let things happen normally while thinking of other stuffs.
for example, when you are eat in front of people, just program your body to 'eat' while your mind think of what you wanna do next after eat or what do you wanna do tomorrow. Something like that. Stay in control! there is nothing to be afraid of.
Best of luck!.

I too (even now) get nervous when it's time to check-out at the grocery store...I always that I have gone over what I had planned to spend, or that, even worse, more than I have! It's financial worries that cause this. Every pay period, I try to work out an expense budget, but usually come up short. But, no matter what, I survive, so I just let it go! I try not to worry.
Good Luck!
