I didn't ejaculate in her mouth nor did she orgasm whilst I was pleasuring her orally. The next morning, I noticed that the tip of my penis was burning slightly. The day after, the opening on my penis had swollen slightly. I went to see my doctor on the Friday (3rd March). She had a look and diagnosed me with thrush, she gave me a prescription for some anti-fungal cream which I've been using since then. On the Sunday (5th March), I came down with what seemed like the start of a cold. My partner said that I looked a bit pale and I came over a little bit feverish and tired with a slight sore throat. On Monday (6th March), I noticed that there were kind of a yellowish-white spots on my tonsils to go along with my sore throat. I went to see my doctor again that afternoon. I was worried that I had thrush in my mouth too but my doctor said with my other symptoms (slight cough, slightly warmer than normal and the sore throat) and the yellowish-white spots, she said that it's classic tonsillitis. She prescribed me some antibiotics and off I went. My throat is feeling miles better already and the spots have all but vanished after only two days on the antibiotics. Obviously, I intend to finish the course. Now, the question that's nagging me at the back of my mind is that I've caught these illnesses after the unprotected oral. 'Googling' does nothing except say 'Oh my God, you've got HIV!', which is no help at all. It could be a coincidence and I was due to get tonsillitis now, oral or no oral. I've also heard that a lot of saliva during oral can trigger thrush. Also, shortly after my partner left that evening my pet of 15 years died and I cried hysterically pretty much non-stop for 48 hours. Could I have run myself down with all the crying and made myself ill? I carefully asked my new partner if she was clean and she told me that she's been tested recently and she is. What are your thoughts?

Probably an unlucky coincidence. A similar thing happened to me on two separate occasions after having unprotected oral sex. But when I got tested for STDs, I came out clean.
It's always good to get tested whether you think you're sick or not, and it sounds like it could give you peace of mind (certainly did for me).

I can't see a medical reason that could have happened, seems like a coincidence. But I'm not an MD. I think it's pretty common to get sick right when you start seeing someone new though, new pathogens and all.

I think it's just a very freaky coincidence that you got thrush and then tonsillitis after sex with a new partner.
We all carry yeast and being worn down (sex with a new partner takes time) and then I'm sorry about it... your beloved pet died...
I had such severe tonsillitis as an adult that at 31 I had to have my tonsils out...I was sexually active but nothing ever was transmitted to my partner and I had it over and over and over a period of a year before they took my tonsils.
As for yeast/thrush we all carry yeast in our bodies at all times... just sometimes it flares up...

Secondly, whenever we kiss, interact with someone else, we are inviting in germs and other so our immune systems take on these newly introduced 'pathogens' and/or germs.
Its not uncommon for someone to get a cold or other after they have contact with someone 'new'.
The next time, erase doubts and you and your partner head to a STI Clinic and get tested together before venturing forth.

You got a yeast infection. Men can get them too, but what caused it could be any number of things which we cannot effectively determine from a week and a half's worth of information. We don't know if you were taking any medications in the days, weeks, months leading up to that or if you're diabetic. My guess is that it's coincidence. Sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved pet. While I'm sure you were very exhausted from crying, I'm also pretty sure that you were probably already getting sick and the timing was just very not pleasant. Hope you feel better soon.

Maybe it is just coincidence but my partner at that time had many bouts of tonsillitis and I'd never had it before so I'm inclined to think they're linked.
We are very susceptible to illness during times of mental anguish and pain. Our immune systems become very weakened and are much more open to infection.
I've only ever once had both of those and they were only ever after sexual contact. I'd say they're linked.
