If you're attending university; it's your opportunity to join a drama class, or a club. It forces you out of your shell, and speaking before a group becomes easier.
I like the idea of a drama class; because it makes you dig deep into yourself. You improvise situations; and act out scenes with other people. You get used to eyes being focused on you. You don't become immune to being nervous, but you do learn not to withdraw into shyness.
You interact with emotion; or summon and display emotion on demand. It's a fun exercise for the shy and introverted type. You'll be around people who will pull you out of your shell; and help you to feel comfortable about it. It will teach you to face a crowd, project your voice, and build your confidence.
You even get to play totally outside your character!
Consider it!

Since is an involuntary action, I wouldn't worry about it that much. Not only that, I know more than a few guys who like it.... :)

I have always blushed easily. And It's annoying at ANY age :) Add to the fact that I'm about as pale as they get, blushing really shows.
I use Bare Minerals and it covers the "worst" of the red cheeks. Find some Medium-full foundation. I covers it fairly well.
Accept that you blush. It's not like you can control it. When you feel you are blushing, smile - rosy cheeks and a smile is not a bad look (unless of course it's a situation where smiling would be awkward.. then don't).
Relax, you are NOT the only one blushing and from experience most people find it endearing when a person blush.
And try and NOT care what people might think. The sooner you don't pay attention to it, the sooner you will notice that you blush less.
You friends know you blush, so try not to worry about it. If they do tease you, be honest and tell them it would be nice of they could NOT tease you, because the teasing makes it worse.
It does get better with age :)
