They did a urine culture. He said it was bacteria but not a UTI which i thought was weird b/c i thought usually if there is bacteria, it is a UTI.So is he basically saying it's cancer then?? :(if it isn't a UTI but there is bacteria what is it? I always thought a UTI was bacteria of some kind? :( He was saying it could be stones (but she has no pain) or a polyp. He wants to perform a sonogram of bladder and kidneys just to make sure and see where the bacteria is coming from. He said it could go away on it's own but it is better to know. So him saying that made it seem it wasn't 110% necessary for the sonogram. My friend who is a nurse said she thinks he is just ordering tests to use the insurance company.Also--my mother has had a major change in her gas lately..it is happening alot more frequently and i read online it is a major sign of ovarian cancer. :(I am very scared now. She is getting a pap done as well which she hasn't had in a few years. I am so scared and nervous :( i hope she is ok. Has anyone had experience with this or know anything about it? Bacteria cannot cause cancer, I'm sure your doctor would say if he was worried it was and refer her to a specialist. Saying it's not a UTI is in no way the same as saying she has cancer! Log off webmd, stop googling this and let the doctor do his job. Sometimes too much information and too much internet can be a very dangerous thing.
