 When's your second date? Untreated the cold sore will go away in 1-2 weeks. If you don't have that long, then I'd make a doctor's appointment to see if you can get some topical gel to make it go away within a few days.
Cold sores will keep coming back again and again, so you need to see the doctor about oral medication to keep it treated.

 Get a cotton bud, rub it on a bar of soap then rub it on the cold sore. When its dry get the other side of the bud and dip it in aftershave or spray it with perfume. (It only hurts if it's an open sore if it's closed you can't feel a thing.) Then put some coldsore cream on it when it's dry. Do it about 5 times a day. It'll disappear soon =)
