I'm sorry for sounding rude, but at 30-35 you should know how to read a pregnancy test or at least have enough sense to consult the directions first.
Disregard that pregnancy test, and buy the Clear Blue digital ones which simply state "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant". Always read the instructions first, and take a pregnancy test when you have missed your period.
Now if you still get negatives and no period, then I suggest ringing your gyno to go in for a blood test.

what does the box say?

It should have come with instructions, explaining positive or negative results. I am on my third pregnancy, so here is what I know about pregnancy tests: For the most part 1 line is the "control" line, this line tells you the test is working when it appears. A second like is often the "positive" line, meaning if you get a second line, then yes you are pregnant. BUT some tests use a + or - sign instead. So, it depends on the brand like I said. My advice to you is to purchase another test. Get either First Response or Clear Blue Easy, those are good brands that come with clear instructions. There is even one that is digital and says "positive" or "negative" in words. This current pregnancy I took 3 tests over the span of five days because I was having all the symptoms but negative tests. If you test too early you can get a negative. 5 days after you miss your period is a general good rule for testing but it can take longer, but it took a good 8 days after I missed for me to get my positive this time around.

You have to read the instructions that came with the test. All of them are different.
