I'm not one to buy into the whole popularity fake thing so am I being taken in by this popular girl at school?

A female United Kingdom, anonymous writes:

There's this really popular girl and she sits next to me in lessons and often copies from my book. The other day she said that I was really nice, which I was quite surprised at.

However, my friend mentioned that a piece of writing I'd done was about being mentally trapped, she said that I was the one that was mentally trapped. I know it shouldn't bother me as I'm not one to buy into the whole popularity fake thing, but it's really getting me down.

What can I do?

maybe she is using your work. mentally trapped means you are trapped within your own rigid mindset. this means that you think behaviour must conform to rules quite closely. is she naughty. sounds to me like she is a naughty student trying to open your eyes to doing what you want and forgetting the consequences. alternatively she might be a lesbian and coming on to you. either way if someone said to me that i was mentally trapped i would percieve this as me being rigid and conformist, yet personally frustrated and longing to have some fun. i know about rule breakers because i love breaking rules myself just for the fun of it. if i want to take drugs or have sex with whoever i do, but i accept the consequences of my behaviour and dont complain. this is known as moral anarchy. enjoy but dont be a tool at the same time. few fools have used me and not paid the price for it!

TasteofIndia agony auntThis girl sounds like a manipulative piece of work. I'm not saying that she'll never change... you're young. However, she's not going to change any time soon. She sounds like she's using you to copy from your book. Maybe she thinks you're nice because you let her copy your work, but otherwise... if this girl really liked you, she would make a real effort to talk to you.

Forget her.

No, the popular girl called me mentally trapped, basically meaning that I'm mental, not normal. Yet also said that I was really nice.

Ponungalungb agony auntI'm not sure I follow this. . . your friend says that you are mentally trapped (whatever that means), and you sit next to a popular girl that said you were really nice.

What is it that bothers you, your friend saying you were mentally trapped or that the popular girl is possibly fake?
