I'm not attracted to women but I made out with a female friend. What does this mean?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have never questioned my preference....but I am confused on what this may mean.

I had my lesbian friend over a week ago and we would make sexual jokes/ gestures to each other but I was only joking as she knew that I wasn't being serious. At one point after I had gotten my shower and was dressed I brushed my hair a certain way which she found attractive. Next thing I know we were making out on my bed and it got heavy. I made her stop after like two minutes and got myself washed up again and could barely look at her after.

I have a hard time looking and talking to her now and I hate that all of this happened. I hope I don't offend anyone but I don't find girls sexually attractive, yes they are pretty but I don't think anything more.

Can someone help me understand why this happened and what it means?

She told me she thought I looked hot the way I brushed my hair.....did I intend to do it no. I didn't feel anything as this happened but it made me question why I did it.

It's nice to know I was just curious.....thanks for the help janniepeg, LittleMonster, and CMMP.

A male reader, CMMP United States +, writes (25 December 2012):

Popular culture has removed the stigma of women kissing each other less a thing of gay/bisexuality than just plain old sexuality.

I have had a number of girlfriends who had kissed other girls, despite having no desire to be with women. Sometimes it was peer pressure, other times it was to "see what all the fuss was about".

Who knows why you did it, but it doesn't mean you're bisexual since you don't have any sexual attraction to women.

With men, that's a different story!

janniepeg agony auntYou did it because you just wanted to know how it feels to kiss a woman. The experience confirmed you are straight. You may not like a her but it still feels good that you turned someone on. I think you can still be friends, but if she has desires for a girlfriend she needs to look elsehwere.
