A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Ok this may sound wierd but I think I may need psychological help. I had the biggest crush on these two guys. They both did "things" with me. But now they both have gfs. When I found out I was very upset. I dont get much sleep now and everytime i think about them or see them I break down and cry. This has been going on for 4 months.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (15 June 2007):

i feel sorry for you losing two people you love around the same time when most people only have the pain of losing one. The only advice that will help to heal a broken heart is to hang out with friends and keep yourself busy with other things to get your mind off the pain.

hope this helps,

Mark

I'm not a qualified professional, but it sounds like a post-traumatic stress reaction. That's a little extreme given the circumstances you describe, but it does happen in the wake of infidelity or rape, so I can imagine it happening in other cases where "things" are involved--particularly if you felt a high degree of trust in these guys. The semi-good news about post-traumatic stress reactions is that you're probably just a bit fragile and sensitive and trusting--traits you don't want to give up, really. And in a case like this, I'd anticipate gradual improvement. On the other hand, if you're not improving, then seeing a therapist would be wise.
