writes: I am going to have cosmetic surgery to correct a problem with my body. My boyfriend is going to pay for the surgery. He is concerned about going into debt. I dont blame him because he is scared that i will leave him stuck with the payments to the credit card . He also fears that I will leave him I feel guilty , I can't predict the future maybe we wont stay together later on in life should I feel guilty for doing the surgery .

reader, anonymous, writes (8 November 2006): if ur worried about him going into to dept and ur unsure if ur going to be with him forever, then pay him back. monthly installments. and if the surgery is correct deformities or injuries than go for it, but if its for boobs, a nose job, anything to enhance ur features. let it go. its not that important. and then u urself can save up the money for the surgery

reader, anonymous, writes (8 November 2006): As long as you tell him you can't predict the future and that you can't say for sure that you'll be together later on in life then go with it, if he still wants to risk getting in to debt for you.
Personally though, there is no way I'd pay for a girls cosmetic surgery if she said that to me. In fact, I'd be surprised if my girlfriend would accept money off me for such a thing. She'd work hard and pay for it herself.

reader, anonymous, writes (8 November 2006): Is the surgery really necessary, remember not all operations turn out to be what you want or expect. Why don't you pay some towards it, maybe get a loan and pay half, that would take the sting away a bit. I can understand his worry but try and reassure him that you will help out as much as you can. We can't all predict the future, you may separate in the future, but that's being negative, stay positive and don't even think about splitting up. I hope it all goes well for you. Take Care
