I'm beginning to resent my boyfriend because I'm unhappy with where we live!

A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

So my boyfriend and I have been dating for over 4 years and we live together. He is from the city we live in and I am from about 5 hours away. The past couple of years I've made it very clear that I want to move back there to be closer to friends and family. My BF has made it very clear that he does not want to move since all his friends and family are here. I've tried my hardest to be more comfortable with living here but I can't stop thinking about how I hate living here. So much that I'm beginning to resent my BF. I'm really not sure what to do at this point. Anyone been in this type of situation?

A reader, anonymous, writes (27 January 2012):

Me finks you both got locked into a power struggle of I Win, She Loses, I Win, He Loses. This mentality will kill a solid relationship. Usually we make sacrifices and compromises so I'm thinking- is this the ONLY thing that has you unhappy? Because to me, if you hang unto this and build it into a power struggle - you will Lose BF. And is that worth it?

There has to be more going on than just this. Because from where I stand, I see get over it and focus on what really matters.
