reader, anonymous, writes (25 May 2006): its okay because i am to!! haha i used to think that i would never have sex ither, but if you really think about it you really dont need to rush into anything too soon anyways. you wont be too scared if you just wait for the right person at the right time, someone who your completely comfortable around and are not afraid to just be yourself when your with him. all you need to do is give it time!

 The fact that you say you're scared even by the _word_ makes me pause. OK, "penis" isn't a happy sounding word, like "bubbly" or "Twinkie", but if you're afraid of the sound of the name of something that you're afraid of, then, baby, you're deeply afraid.
But why? Past trauma, even rape? Or could it just be that you're still really young?
Since you haven't said anything about yourself or your age, it's hard to give you much advice, but in general, if you're an adult with this much fear then you should be going and asking for some help from a mental-health counsellor who can help you work through it.
On the other hand, if you're just a young girl, and scared because it's all weird and new, (and assuming that you haven't been sexually abused), then you'll get over it with time. When you find a man whom you love and trust, this concern will very probably shrink to something you can manage.

 I know that i was a little nervous about the vagina at first but you will get over it. A penis should not be feared its just another part of the body and another sexual organ. Perhaps you should ease your way into it and "confront" a penis, for want of a better word". I hope this has been helpful.
