writes: My partner has always had lodgers and now his male lodger is about to leave.I realise I could be worrying needlessly, but what if he has a female lodger?I know you will say, well if you trust him (the fundaments of a good relationship, etc, etc) then all will be well.I wish to be realistic here. He has NEVER done anything to make me distrust him but to actually live with another female disturbs me a lot. They would be sharing the house; kitchen , bathroom, toilet, etc. I can't help the way I feel. She could walk around semi-naked, oh, you know the situation.I am at the point of saying that if he has a female lodger I won't be around but this just seems so insecure. I just can't abide all the worrying such a situation would entail for me. Help!

reader, anonymous, writes (29 November 2006): Just have a talk with him and state how you feel. Ask him to make sure that he has a male lodger or you will feel uncomfortable and he won't want that. I'm sure if you put your point across without it making you sound too jealous then he will be ok with that. I wouldn't want my bloke having a female lodger, but that is me!
