writes:ok well, about a week ago a boy added me on facebook and started talking to me and we've been talking ever since but last thursday he told me "i think you're really pretty...good music taste..makes me laugh...and...maybe you give me butterflies and maybe i like you ;)" and so we decided to meet up to go to the cinema on sunday and met up with him outside the cinema an then it was slightly awkward at first an we ended up watchin thor, an then we got into the actual cinema an sat like right at the back in the corner an it got abit less awkward cos we were just messin about an then like when the film started we were just watchin it an then about 5 minutes in he started holding my hand so we were just sat like that for about 10 mins but then i went to the toilet an when i came back he like put his arm around me so i just sort of leaned on him an then just looked at him an he kissed me (not proper just on the lips) an he was like thats all your gettin for now (cause the day before we were talkin an he was sayin how like 2 weeks ago a girl he thought he loved told him she wasnt interested so he said he didnt want to get into anythin with me too quickly cause he didnt feel ready) an then i like just went back to leanin on him an held his hand agen while we were like that he kissed me on the head which was really cute an then a while later i sat up abit and he like full on tried kissin me an this is when i failed because i hadnt done it before and did it wrong an we both sort of just smiled an shook it off an then when the film had finished we went to kfc an we were just talkin for a while an then my mum came but she was like parked outside the cinema so it gave me the opertunity to walk down with him an then when we were sayin goodbye we couldnt kiss otherwise my mum would have seen so we just hugged eachother an he kissed me on the head again an then i got into the car, but the whole time before hand he was saying how he was going to ask me out on sunday but then on saturday evenin he told me that he was still gettin over some girl that he thought he loved that rejected him 2 weeks ago so he didnt want to ask me out anymore, which i was fine with to be honest because it would have been to quick, but like im starting to doubt his story, cause like im in year 10 at one school and hes in year 11 at another and his prom is in a week or so, so i think he's just telling me that story so he can put off asking me out till after the prom because everyone knows the prom is just an excuse for people to have sex so he might want to get with some girl at prom before he actually goes out with me so i cant get angry at him, but the thing is i cant really ask him abou tit cause it will seem like i dont trust him an im getting really involved with his life an stuff, but to be honest i wouldnt have minded if he was just honest with me, because ive been so honest with him about some quite personal stuff, i dont know, maybe i should just let what happends happen, what do you think cupid? xx

reader, anonymous, writes (11 May 2011): I'm not sure that prom has much to do with it. The fact that you think he wants to get with another girl before asking you out so you can't be made makes you think you know he's kind of an unsavory type to begin with.
If you know he has a history of messing around or something, that could be why you're feeling this way.
If you have no reason to not believe him, you could just assume that he really just doesn't want to be too involved right now.
