I am a 21 year old guy in college with a job, live a real stable life, have no problems getting dates etc. with girls around my age(19-23, whatever). Recently, however, i've been experiencing a mutual attraction to a 16 year old and we've hung out a few times by chance, nothing past that. Would it be wrong to try to pursue this further(and to filter some of these answers, no, it wouldnt be statutory rape lol.)

I am 16 and im dating a 22 year old guy and my parents disagree with it 100%.The only reason they dont want me to be with him is because his age.He treats me with respect and he's always there to listen to me and vis versa with him we are there for eachother.I just hope that if anyone is in this perdicament that they wont give up on eachother and keep trying until the parents get to know him.Even though they dont want me to see him i still do im not going to let my parent ruin a relationship for someone i really care for so im going to have him come to my house and try to get my parents to sit down and listen to the both of us and hopefully get there permission for us to date.So trackguy17 i wish you good luck .Cause i think my man and you need it the most so no one will end up in jail.

Toria agony aunt5 years is not a big difference in age and she is legally old enough so I don't see any reason why you shouldn't take a chance on this with this girl.

Just remember though she is still young and you will need to take things probably at a different and slower pace than you may do with girls your own age.

Good luck, hope it all works out :o)

baadgrlz117 agony auntI dont think that it would be wrong, but it would be hard to keep a relationship only because youre at such different points in your life. im in college and my boyfriend has a job is graduated from college and has his own house. Lately its been hard for us to relate to eachother...in fact we are probably breaking up over it after a year an a half of a serious relationship...which sucks

I have a 7 year age difference between me and my current boyfriend I'm 20 and he's 27 when we started getting to know each other I was 18 and thought he was a lot younger. When I found out his actually age I was a little concerned and had so many mixed feelings. I used to think that age was a big problem and it still is for us because I know that we are at two different places in our life. And I asked him a while back why he still persued me knowing my age and he said that 18 was his cut off anything lower than that would be considered wrong for him. You have to ask yourself where do you stand on it, do you think it's right, what's your standing on the issue. And if you do choose to persue her do it for the right reason not because you think she's naive and young because if my boyfriend that told me that well I'd still be beating him right now. Good luck whatever you decide.

Agree with the above reader. This relationships age gap will not even be considered a gap after she is of age.

Just wait until she is 18 to have sex, or better yet wait until you are both married.

If your goal is a physical realtionship stick to someone who is above the age of consent. It will keep complications out of your life. And two years isnt that long to wait if she is really "the one"

Just my 2 cents.

As a point of reference, I am 35 and there is a girl who just turned 23, she is head over heels about me, and so is the rest of her family. I have known her over two years and we have never been physically entangled. In my case I do not have any legal issues however I feel it is somewhat of a moral issue, that and social stigmas just give me cold feet. At this point she remains my best friend we spend some time together and do not see other people. I dont think that we will ever date, we will just marry, when and if ever I feel comfortable with it. With no wrinkles, grays, below average bodyfat, etc, I guess I could say I look younger than my age with respect to my peers, however she also looks much younger than her age, almost like a teenager, which makes the physical appearance of an age diffence stick. Anyway I will end my rant.

Best of think, and please think with the right head on this one.

Amethyst agony auntlol, good to know.

I for one, am not one that views age as a factor for liking someone. If she likes you, and you like her, then I don't see why there'd be a problem. A few strange looks may come your way when you take her out on a date (if she looks her age, and you look yours) and maybe some comments, but other than that... I don't think anything else could happen, unless her parents don't approve. So long as you stick to the no sex policy.

Truth is, age is only a big issue to people NOW because of her age. When she's 21 and your 26 people don't view that as a big deal, now do they? So, I say if it's meant to be, it's meant to be... so go for it. Just don't break her heart or those teenage hormones will kill you for sure! o.o;

I myself am proof I believe what I just said. ^^ I'm 16, and my fiance's 19. I've always seemed to get along with older people than people of my own age group, comes from being overly mature.

Anyway, good luck! ^^
