Sending a 17 year old to jail for 10 years - a massive majority of his 'youth' because he had oral sex with a 15 year old. Seriously, the judicial system needs some rework. Stop sending people to jail for such minor details. There are much more effective alternatives like civil service for cases like this. It doesn't teach anything to anyone by sending some kid to jail for 10 freakin years for giving his gf of 2 years younger oral sex.
Next thing you'll know, they're going to send someone to jail for 5 years because s/he jay walked. NICE! I APPLAUD the judicial system for being officially stupid and retarded. [stands up to applaud than leaves]

Anyway to Ms. Anon, no it is not illegal to be dating someone older. Having sex unfortunately, might be depending on your state and/or country.

The Georgia Supreme Court just upheld this." So, you have to ask yourself, "Am I in Georgia? or, Am I lucky?" All joking aside, I'd check on the law where the sex will take place. And then assume that the max sentence COULD be what you'd receive. After all, I'm sure the Georgian 17 y.o. did not think he'd get 10 years of prison (with no chance for early release).

 There's no law in the world governing who you can and can't date. Now, sexually, yes it is illegal. Here in the U.S. he can go to jail for having sex with a minor and for the rest of his life have to register as a sex offender.
So if you want to have a physical relationship with this boy, then wait 3 years, or better yet, get married ;) But you can still date and work on the non-physical aspects of your relationship.
Are you living at home with your parents? Have you asked them what they think about it? Its really hard to have a relationship while your still living at home if your parents don't approve of him.
