reader, anonymous, writes (27 February 2007): What's the difference? A date and asking her out as friends is the same thing anyway. If there is chemistry when you two go out together, fabulous, maybe you can gradually take it further. Otherwise, labelling it as anything is meaningless.

I would most certainly ask her out as a friend first. If she accepts and it all goes well see if she wants to do it again.
Do be careful with office dating though, If it gets serious then for whatever reason dosen't work out things can be a little awkward having to see them every day.

I would try to get a fiew of you out and ask her to come, then if all goes well then I would ask her if she would like to go for a meal and a drink with you.
