Craig* is older than me, 27 (I'm 18) but he's amazing and I want to be with him. I've decided to finish with Paul* but I'm worried about something and I was wondering if anyone has any advice. You see, Craig* has genital herpes. He caught it a few years ago and I'm scared I will catch it if we go out. He's really sensible and has come to terms with it well. He always uses protection and I know he would look after me but there's no guarantee. It's scaring me off and making me think I don't want to be with him, even though he's a really great person. Am I horrible for judging him like this? Or is this too much of a risk? He's also ready for settling down and I'm just about to start uni. I know it probably won't last forever but I'd like to give it a go. Do you think I should? Thanks.

So long as you use the right protection then there is less chance of you cathing it... although condoms are only 99% safe at reducing this type of infection being caught.. that said it is unlikely that you would catch it whilst using a condom.. so longs you are careful things should be ok... there is also nothign to say that you would cathc it... we are all differnt and not everyone does catch it when they come into contact with some that has already got it.

There is a chance of you catching herpes but as long as you dont have sex while "Craig" has a flare up of herpes you shouldnt catch it.
