I worry I might have herpes, warts, or rash?

A female Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

My boyfriend and I had lots of sex this one week, and I started to get a little sore during this week. After, I went to the gyno for a checkup on my cervical dysplasia. The gyno said it was mild and took a sample of my cervix. It gave me a strange discharge of course, but it seems different from last time. There's a LOT more discharge, and I was thinking maybe he took a larger sample since he used a needle to anesthesize me and he didn't the first time he took a sample. Regardless he said the dysplasia was getting better. Well, I shave down there regularly, but never had too many problems with it.

I started getting itchy down there and one day scratched at it a lot, and since I have been insanely sore. Around the opening to my vagina it is reaaaallly sore on one side, to the point where having sex feels like putting salt on an open wound. I have developed bumps around my vagina, not just near the opening but also higher up around the clitoris too. The itching stops when I wash my vagina, it is usually only itchy after I've been wearing the same panty liner for a while and there is a lot of discharge on it, or in the morning after a long night's sleep in my boyfriend's room (which gets really hot at night).

I'm praying to God I only have ingrown hairs which were inflamed from the itching, and that the itchiness was caused by the increase in discharge. But I am also worried it could be something else... if you have any similar experiences or suggestions please help. I am going to go to my doctor if all of this isn't gone by the time my period is done (it just started), so I will get checked for herpes or something. But if you think it could be something else, please calm my nerves!

misfitschik66 agony auntwell hun its good you went to the doctor but don't be scared yet that it's an STI because i had the same problem i was getting blisters on my "area" and it was pretty itchy but i knew my boyfriend at the time was not cheating on me so i went to the doctor thinking oh my god what if he did and i have herpes so i went to a walk in clinic seeing i couldnt get to my doctors that day and the clinic doctor told me it might be herpes and to see my doctor at this point a was so scared i had them

i went to the doctors and my doctor told me it wasnt herpes and to not worry it was just chaffing and it was becoming dry and becoming raw she told me to not use soap down there seeing soap can dry you out she also told me to wear cotton panties and use a type of cream for about a week

it cleared up just fine ad every now and then and ive only had it happend to me once more since then

so be very sure before you start jumping to conclusions

good luck and keep us updated

ArmyMedic agony auntI hate to be the bearer of bad news but this does sound like an STI.

I think you are doing the right thing by going to your doc.

You've got the right idea about going straight back to the doc. You don't say if you used a condom with your boyfriend.

I think there is a chance that it is an STD but you might not want to go accusing him before you get checked out just in case it isn't.

Use cool water to calm the itching and try not to scratch it as that can make things worse.

Don't have any more sex obviously.

Good Luck!! xx
