We were talking to each via Messages in the Inbox on Facebook one day and she changed her profile picture. I told her that she looked cute and the next day, one of her friends asked me if I like her. Somehow, I made the answer obvious to her friend. I then wondered why she told her friends. There's this other guy who says she's cute in some other photos, too.I only talked to her at school once. I asked her if she wanted this small stuffed dog that I won from an event via Facebook and gave it to her a few days later. The same friend of her's started making fun of me, saying how I like her. Her friend also says that the girl I like was all giggly and happy or something. Other then that, we chatted on Facebook almost everyday since a month ago. But lately, she's been disconnecting suddenly. She says that its the internet that she is logging off in the middle of the conversations. I trust her and usually stay on until I fall asleep. I remember that only once did she apologize. Other then that, it seems as though she doesn't care. Her replies usually take 10 minutes and her logging off becomes more random. Yesterday, I waited until she finally came on. But at the time, I was about to go to sleep. She usually comes back on at 11 at the other times she'd logged off and I sleep at around 10. But she didn't seem to notice or try to say sorry or anything. It feels like she's avoiding me. I was wondering, does she like me or is she avoiding me?

reader, anonymous, writes (8 November 2010): she was flattered at first, and showed minor curiosity. But now she has talked to you a bit more she seems to be backing off. That could either mean she wants you to do more of the chasing, or she really is disinterested as she feels no connection. I think the latter.
