A female reader, Fairy Godmother United Kingdom +, writes (13 January 2009):

Fairy Godmother agony auntYou can't! If you lay your feelings on the line to someone you care for you are making yourself very vulnerable.

However, I don't think there is anyone who hasn't felt embarrassed or scared about saying 'I love you' when they truly mean it. The good news is that it's perfectly normal to feel those things. So... if you really love someone, feel the fear and tell them anyway! Good luck and best wishes. x
