OK i just want to know what you think of this lad have you got the same idea as me?

Basically i started liking this lad about 6 months ago and its slowly grown and grown. Over these 6th months he's showed lots of signs of liking me. It was mostly deep eye contact and a lot of staring!! And i mean a lot!! There were times i didn't know if he was actually looking AT me, but it was and especially if we were in a certain place such as he was standing on the staors and i wasn't i have now stood in the position he was in and i've noticed he was actlly looking AT me and into my eyes a lot. See now am i wrong or does that give off a very strong sign he likes me? Also people have sorta hinted that he likes me in varous ways by stuff thats been said and the way they've spoke. Now my mate sorta asked the lad i lke what he thought of me in general and although he never said do you fancy ehr or anything the lad said "thing is i don't ave feelings for her" and then when my mate told him i liked him he said "well tbh im choosing to stay single so won't go out with her but don't tell her that will ya?"

Now yeah im guttered hes choosing to stay single and everything and since then another mate of mine whos also a really good mate of his has found out and shes been teasing me about him no end, im sure shes said something to him as well cuz i suspected she always knew something! and when i waas sitting with them at dinner she said "do you wanna sit here"(she was next to him) and stuff like that- then when she got up to go she said here you go you can sit here now and i said nah im alright and she goes to the lad i like, "aww she don;t wanna sit next to ya"

Now ever since he's found out he hasn't showed the signs as much, the staring does happen occasionally but not very often anymore. However when he first found out the staring carried on for sometime afterwards but it isn't a lot now but i'm sure from whats gone off and from all the signs before he does have feelings for me, maybe its juts that he wants to stay single? Do you think so?

Also could this be a reason the staring and stuf has stopped, well dyed down alot(it hasnt stopped ocmpletly) because he dos like me and now he knows i like him he hasn't got the need to show it + he feels a bit awkward by the fact he does like me but because a part of him wants to stay single he's confused and feels awkward? The same goes for the fact that if we're in a class group he won't always sit next to me or talk to me much at all, although they don't know that i like him although afew have suspected it!

A reader, anonymous, writes (19 June 2008):

It seemed this guy was interested and likes you somewhat, but if what your friends say is true, he's not ready for a relationship and likes the single life. You have two choices, to forget about this guy untill he approaches you and asks you how you feel, or approach him yourself and find out if he would like to come out for a date. (something small and simple like coffee) I don't know what's in his mind, I don't know what he feels, you want to know if he likes you, then ask him, if you want him for a boyfriend then ask him for a date. This thing will go around, and around in your head untill you know for sure. Go on put your pride on the table, talk to him directly and see if you can get more information direct from the horses.
