You've already said it hurt - why would you want to hurt your GF? Maybe you should concentrate more on the kissing, rather than the marking. Neck kissing is a very intimate, enjoyable act. Don't ruin it just because you've set out with the intention of bruising someone. Think about the pleasure instead

Hickeys are gross.

It's the exact same thing, a hickey is just a bruise caused by the haemorrhaging of blood under the skin. Don't punch her OP, that was sarcasm.
Just so you know OP hickeys are for children and while everyone is sure they cause no permanent damage ask the woman who suffered a stroke from one last year if she agrees.
If you want to know how to give one just as her how to do it and ask her if she wants one. You'd be surprized OP it can stay for several weeks on some people and lots of girls who think it's cute leave marks on boys get very embarrasses by having them on them and don't like it.
Asking her is the best way but if I were you I wouldn't bother, hickeys are for kids.

I don't think anyone on here would want to advise you on such a thing, and what is so appealing about giving and receiving bruises to the neck?
