When mine broke up, she was the first person I got to talk to. When her's broke up, I was the first. We talk/text almost everyday now. I catch myself looking at pics of her and of the two of us. I want the chance to be something more to her, but I am afraid of losing a true friend. So, how do you get out of the friend zone?

That scares a woman away. Be patient. Show her your sincere with your intentions. Never say one thing then do another. Maybe she will think differently about you.
Maybe she will give it a try. But its really up to her. Try. What you have to lose?
