Female help needed! I want to get rid of my vaginal pubic hair, completely. I really don't want to shave it because I've tried that in the past and it doesn't last long and it's irritating when it's growing back. What I would really love to do is wax the area without having to have a professional do it. But the thing is I've looked at the back of wax strip boxes and they always say not to be used on vaginal/genital area. I don't get why though. What can I do?!

Thank you.

I suggest you don't do that. What is going to happen when this LITTLE girl look fad fades away? Your going to be stuck looking like a little girl and guys are going to want the more natural look. I would just stick with shaving. The little girl look is not going to last forever.

Fairy_Lu agony auntIm a qualified holistic and beauty therapist my advice is to go to a salon and get it done, dont feel embarressed about it, we dont get embarressed. I wont lie its a bit uncomfotable at first but it does give s really smooth finish and lasts for ages.

However if you are really not into this idea then im sure there are bikini line wax kits now, just remeber to do a patch test first to make sure your not allergic to the wax, best place to do this is the inside of your elbow atleast 24 hours prior to using the product properly, i think most home kits you apply the wax with the hair and not against just remebr to pull the skin tight before you pull the wax strip off, also before waxing test the temperature of the wax before applying it to the bikini area, best place to do this is on the insid of your wrist.

NightLad agony auntIt may seem odd to have a man, and a gay man at that, respond to this, but I actually have some advice I think might help you.

First of all, the type of wax-job you are looking for is called a Brazilian Wax. You can read more information about them here: http://beauty.about.com/od/hairremoval/ht/bikiniwax.htm

However, the point of advice I wanted to impart was the importance of finding a reputable professional to do the procedure. Here is a true story:

A couple years ago a female friend went in to a local salon to get her eyebrows waxed prior to going to an up-scale party. This salon was very well publicised and they had an appointment free, unlike her regular place. After returning home she looked in the mirror and her eyebrows and eyelids were bright red, shiny, and puffy. A trip to the ER confirmed that she had been seriously burned. It was terribly painful and over the next couple of weeks the burns got scabby and blistery before finally peeling. Quite terrible.

After returning to the salon, the staff immediately became borderline confrontational. One staff member became outright hostile. They refused to provide assistance with contacting the owner, and would not even tell her the person’s name.

A trip to the lawyers was next. Unfortunately she discovered that many salons operate under a ‘blanket identity’ policy to protect the owners. It can take weeks or months of legal wrangling to find out their real names. Also, depending on your location, lawsuits may be more costly to you than what you could ever hope to see in a settlement.

The lawyer drew a comparison between my friend’s injury and a former client who had a botched Brazilian Wax. The inept attendant actually got the hot wax *inside* of this woman’s vagina, causing 3rd degree burns. After months of legal jousting, she received a $2300 settlement.

Again I emphasise the importance of finding a reputable salon and recommended attendant for this procedure. Ask around. Get references. Expect to pay for quality.

I hope this helps!
