Should he say no, and have some excuse, say okay 'fine" maybe some other time and don't be upset, he might genuine not be able to go.
BUT
if he says yes, you go and have FUN!

Instead invite a whole group of friends, so it doesn't seem like a date and put him under pressure...
Once you feel you know him well enough and you're ure you like him pounce on the oppurtunity.
