First off, you need to know whether getting engaged is what your girlfriend wants to do. I don't mean like ask her straight out; I mean just like drop hints and ask where do you see yourself in 10 years' time and so on. Depending on whether your girlfriend is a shy girl and she doesn't like a big audience, especially if it's full of people she don't know.It doesn't really have to be a perfect setting. It can be in your living room or whilst you're having a conversation about your future together or go for the traditional down on one knee in front of all her best friends and family and yours too. But this is really down to you, you're the only one who knows her inside and out you are the one and only person who can decide! I hope she says yes! xxxx

reader, anonymous, writes (2 May 2005): Hmmm, thats a bit of a tough question and I think that only you can answer yourself. I think that when someone proposes only they know when it is right, i.e you're both in a place you love or doing something together you love, as there is always going to be something you enjoy doing together! All I can say is that when it feels right, ask her, that's about the bestI can do! Sorry if it's not too good! But all the best with this and everything! x
