reader, anonymous, writes (24 June 2006): Shauncullen gives you good advice. I too recommend you just tell her you realize you did mess up, and wish you hadn't hurt her feelings. Let her know she means a lot to you, and you want to continue - IF SHE IS WILLING TO - and in any event you've learned from it, and from now on it will be in the past. Perhaps an email is the best way to convey this, because it's less pressure than saying it on the phone.

explain that you understand you messed up, and tell her srtaight, add that she needs not replie, just tell her how you feel, that you think of her, leave the ball in her court.
