how can i stop making an idiot out of myself when i see this guy? we have a past, though not a very long one.but definetly a personal one.i work in a very public place, and i see him come in there often.sometimes ive ignored the fact tht hes there and pretend i dont see him.a few weeks ago he came around a corner and i almost ran right into him litteraly.i turned the other way,he turned the same way, almost run into him again! i gave a simple hello and a smile and walked away with a red face im sure.today i decided to be a big girl and ask how hes doing...which happened to be the same exact moment he asked me the same thing!i got uncomfortable and again,i got red in the face and said nothing else.i feel like a baby.we did things we shouldnt have in the past that never lead to anything substantial and i stopped talking to him.i guess i must still like him a little, eventhough hes a jerk.its wanting want you cant have i suppose, cuz even if he did want to be with me id say no,he had his chance.i just want to be able to hold a 5 minute convo without looking like a moron.help?

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (23 October 2008):

Oh dear, it sounds like you've got it bad. It's amazing how some people can still turn you into that 14 yearold stuttering school girl again.

Avoiding him is a good idea, but when you see him then try not to let your body tense up and get in a state. Take a second, take a deep breath and tell yourself that you are a professional woman in her 20's and you will not act like anything else.

You will get over this eventually. I'm glad you haven't let it overrule your head so you'd be daft enough to get back with someone who is not good for you.

Good Luck!! xx
