writes: Hi, I'm 16 and think I may be pregnant. I had unprotected sex 2 weeks on Saturday and on Monday I took the morning after pill. The lady who supplied it told me I was at a very high risk of already being pregnant as I had just finished my period. She told me not to start my birth control unless I know for sure I wasn't pregnant. Due to my stupidity I started it last Thursday and this may be in my head but I think I have been having early pregnancy symptoms such as; urinating often(2 times since 10:45); mild cramping and fatigue. As I started my birth control I do not know if I have had a missed period. I am very very silly but please help :( xx

If you think you may be pregnant then you need to stop taking your birth control pill immediately. It isn't good for the potential baby. And also, because you left it quite a long time before you took the morning after pill then it's much less effective than it would have been if you had taken it straight away. You shouldn't have started to take the contraceptive pill if there was any kind of possibility that you could have been pregnant because now you can't track your periods or see if you've missed any.
But it's too late for that now anyway.
My advice would be stop taking your pill, wait a few days for your withdrawal bleed to stop and then do a test. Or you could do one now if you really want. That's the only way you can find out for sure. If you get a negative, don't take it as certain because you're doing this very early and there might not even be enough pregnancy hormones in your body for the test to show up. It might still be a few weeks until it actually shows up positive. In which case, all you can do is wait.
I know it sucks but doing a few tests a week apart is the only real thing you can do. You're at two weeks now so if you're still getting pregnancy symptoms and negatives tests at four or five weeks then it's time for a trip to the doctor for a bloodtest. I'm pregnant and got my first positive at 4 weeks.
good luck.

The morning after pill is most effective 24 hours after unprotected sex has taken place but can be used up to 72 hours after. If your having symptoms go see your GP, make sure to get a urine and blood test as for alot of women (including myself) urine tests dont work until later in the pregnancy and blood is best!! Good luck

well if you had unprotected sex and ddnt take the morning after pill within 48 hrs then you are high at risk they say the best time for the morning after pill is within 24 hrs. go see your gp and get a free pregnancy test to put your mind at ease it wont cost nothing and it will make you feel better either way to know the results. and if she said dont take the BCP then dont they know better than you. and in future always take the pill and use contraception good luck hun aphex xx
