I presume you mean man as in boyfriend not husband?
It would seem he wanted a casual relationship, friends with sex if you like.
By confessing your love you made it too deep for him and he wants out for fear of commitment.
As for what to do, you can't make someone love you or even accept your love. Cry and move on.

Many men dont usually like to hear the words "I LOVE YOU" because it makes them feel sucluded from every women. Most Guys like to think they are perfect and like to flirt with the opposite sex to prove they have still got what it takes to get another women. My opinion is to ask him why he doesnt want you and try to act like adults and find out what his problem is with you and try and change if you really loved him you would change for him.
