My boyfriend and I have been dating for 4 years and he is compeletly honest with me.

So when he told me that I was gaining weight.. I was unhappy with my gain ( which I am )

I want to lose the weight but I am 5'2" 20yrs 175ibs I wear a Canada size 8-10 and I'm not built increibly small but small enough my breast are also a 36HHH I was wondering if I lost 45 pounds would that be too much weight to lose for me ?

Its not really a relationship question but if I'm unhappy with my weight that will affect my partner too .

My boyfriend told me he had gained 42lbs since he met me and I've gained 8lbs. My BMI is 22 but I still want to lose the 8lbs I've gained, for me. It's good that you want to lose the weight but be realistic and sensible about this. Cut out snacks, get more exercise and realise it will take time to lose it.

BTW my boyfriend thought it was GREAT that I'd gained weight.

k_c100 agony auntOk well first things first, well done for recognising that you want to make this change and lose the weight, that is a great start. Weight gain can indeed affect relationships, I'm sure your boyfriend loves you very much but physical attraction is an important part of a relationship and if you have gained a lot since you first started dating then there is a chance your boyfriend's attraction to you could decrease a little.

45lbs is quite a lot, but for your height being 130lbs would be within the healthy range for you. I am currently trying to lose weight, I am 5"3 and weighed 156lbs when I started, and my goal weight is 133lbs (but I would be happy with 140lbs!). It is not as much weight as you want to lose, but still a significant amount. I have lost 7lbs so far so its going ok!

I would recommend for you that you aim for maybe 140lbs-147lbs, that is still within your healthy range but it is not as drastic as trying to get to 130lbs. It sounds like you have large boobs and are naturally curvy, so trying to be a skinny 130lbs would be quite difficult to achieve. Losing around 30lbs will be easier and will still have a massive impact on your shape and confidence. If you get to your goal weight and still feel you need to lose more, that is fine - but dont set your first goal too high otherwise it may end up de-motivating you.

There are plenty of ways to lose weight, feel free to follow up to this if you want detailed hints and tips on actually losing the weight itself. But in general all you need to do is exercise frequently (and push yourself fairly hard when exercising), and eat less junk, carbs and processed food and replace all that with healthy food. You dont need to starve yourself or eat next to nothing, just make some sensible food swaps (like brown bread instead of white, use less oils and fats when cooking etc).

I hope this helps and good luck!
