writes: Hello to all! this question goes to Indians.either living in land or abroad.-For us being Spaniards.-a girl who is daughter of your grandmother's sister son.Is a close related cousin and we don't marry them.-yes,there have been cases,specially in older times but is not that common.--How is in India? and most important do you feel close related enough to not get marry with her.I have heard that in south India is normal to marry 1 cousins.-I have a boyfriend who is Indian and I feel so strongly that he is secretly in love with her cousin.-But though he said that he cannot marry her cause is her cousin.--I have heard so much about close relative marriage that I dont know.--However the main doubt is that How FAR OR CLOSE people in India found this family blood relation. Thank you for clearing me up with this.

reader, anonymous, writes (15 April 2009): ur being stereotypical, just becoz he's indian does not mean he will marry his cousin or anyone blood related. yes it is common, due to some family traditions, or to build stronger relationships between families. but do not think all indians, pakistanis or bangladeshis maary their cousins by force or opression, some people actually do genuinely like their cousin, and if this is the case with ur boyfriend do not get in the way unless u have the intention to marry him.
