reader, anonymous, writes (31 December 2009): This is probably not the best place to seek legal advice on Indian law. If he's marrying someone else, why in the world do you want him brought back to you? Would he be tied up? in a box? how are you going to 'keep' him there?
Most nations can't get criminals who have performed horrible crimes brought back from other country- I don't see how you're going to get a jerk of a husband back.
If he never returns you're likely out of luck- If he marrys someone else (while married to you) his second marriage may not legally stand, which could cause all kinds of problems for BOTH of you. What about the debts he incurs after he leaves? Are you responsible to pay them? If your married, may be...
The guy has told you he wants out- get what you can and move on... you can't hold him hostage- and there's probably no good reason to, except to inflict pain, which will ruin you as much as him. Let the prick go, and make it expensive and shameful for him.
