writes:hi all im on the pill and when i was taking the pill i was having sex with my bf then when i stop taking it , cause i start taking the packet on a monday and continue the course till the packet runs out which is a sunday , then the following week i start my period on a friday to sunday . anyway during monday -friday im waiting for my period im not sure if i can risk having sex without a condom with my bf am i likely to get pregnant as i stopped taking the pill then . my mates say its ok but im unsure please help

genie53uk is verified as being by the original poster of the questionim still using the pill but was on my seven days pill free when we had sex i was on my period at the time and he didnt wear a condom

It could go either way, but to be honest I really don't think it is worth taking the risk.
It's only 4 or 5 days a month so I am sure your boyfriend won't mind using condoms for that time.
It's always better to be safe than sorry. Just keep thinking about the 3am feeds and poo and screaming and getting fat.

reader, anonymous, writes (26 August 2008): Alot of pills require a five day break after a month, in which your period will start. But no form of contraception is full proof.
It is ok to have sex without a condom during these days, but there's no harm in wearing a condom just for your own peace of mind and to be totally sure.
